My name is Rev. Rhett D. Baird. I am a retired minister and I volunteer with Funeral Consumers Alliance of Georgia, Inc. because I believe that the organization is doing good and honorable work in providing needed and accurate financial information about the costs of the various components of a funeral or memorial service for our loved ones.

I have served congregations for over thirty years and have conducted over 100 funerals or memorial services. I have buried my parents, my brothers, my aunts and uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I have been a chaplain at Grady Memorial Hospital and in the neuropsychiatric unit of the geriatric hospital at Wesley Woods and have been a hospice volunteer.

Prior to returning to Emory University at age 49 to prepare for the ministry, my careers have been in the financial area of the international insurance industry, and several non-profits, including the Center for the Visually Impaired ( previously named the Atlanta Area Services for the Blind ).
